Director for Medical Students
Dr. Desai is an adult infectious disease specialist offering care for patients with various general infectious disease conditions. She has special clinical interest and expertise in emerging infectious diseases, outbreaks, special pathogens, infection prevention and control, and tropical medicine.
Dr. Desai is also interested in health communication, and has served on the IDSA Digital Strategy Advisory Board, and is a former Fishbein Medical Editorial Fellow for the Journal of the American Medical Association.
Dr. Desai's research focuses on the epidemiology of emerging infectious diseases using innovative surveillance tools, biosecurity and policy surrounding epidemics, and communicable disease risk communication, particularly in the setting of large-scale disease outbreaks.
Dr. Desai also studies global migration health and communicable disease epidemiology, with a particular focus on refugees and internally displaced persons.
