Travel Health & Safety

We urge everyone traveling abroad to take certain health and safety precautions in an attempt to mitigate potential risks or threats.

Always register for UC Traveler Insurance to cover medical care, evacuation, and other emergency situations.  http://www.ucop.edu/risk-services/loss-prevention-control/travel-assistance/

Depending on your destination, you may be required to obtain specific vaccinations.  The CDC has a useful tool to provide you with pre-travel immunizations.  http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/list

Ebola is now a well-known concern in Western Africa.  Refer to the health advisory set forth by UC Davis for detailed information about travel in this region.  http://advisory.ucdavis.edu/index.html

The CDC (HAN) and ProMed RSS feeds here will provide you with alerts about outbreaks, emerging diseases, and other urgent public health incidents.  We recommend you subscribe to get alerts or regularly review the notifications.
